Long Distance Travel Essentials | Travel Tips

Summer is fast approaching, which means for a lot of people, so is holiday season. Now, I love a holiday, but I don’t really enjoy flying. If like me you too don’t enjoy the traveling side of a holiday, then keep reading, as I’ve got my best tips on what to bring with you to make that flight feel slightly more comfortable.

Fluffy Socks

Shoes on a plane for me are a no, but so are bare feet (eww). Fluffy socks keep your feet warm and don’t make them feel restricted at all.

Neck Pillow

Let’s face it, airplane seats are not comfy (unless you’re not flying in economy), so having a neck pillow is great if you want to have a nap on your flight and not wake up all stiff. Don’t make the same mistake as me and buy your neck pillow at the airport! They are so expensive there! Primark is currently selling memory foam ones for just £5! You can’t go wrong.

Although it is likely that when you will be stepping off of the plane it will be warmer than when you left, I always think its a good idea to take a jumper on the plane with you, just in case it gets a little chilly, or you want to use it as a blanket to fall asleep.

Comfy Clothes

This is a must! I will never understand how anyone goes on a plan wearing jeans!! I always wear my comfiest clothes, especially if I’m going to be on that plane for a long time.

Most long-haul flights give you a pair of headphones, but in case like me you don’t really like them, it’s always good to bring the ones that you already own, know and love. Plus you can then listen or watch stuff on a phone or tablet if there isn’t anything you like on the in-flight entertainment.

Chewing Gum or Sweets

I always take one of these with me, as my ears almost always pop when taking off or landing. Sucking on a hard sweet or chewing some gum really helps to un-pop your ears.

Tissues are handy to take everywhere with you. Runny nose? Grab a tissue. Split something down you? Grab a tissue. Crying at a film? Grab a tissue. Flights will always have tissues on them if you forget, but its easier to take your own rather than having to get up or wait for one.

Antibacterial Hand Gel

I don’t just take this on flights, I literally carry it everywhere with me. On a flight, you never know when you’re going to need to clean your hands. My favourite one is the Soap and Glory Hand Maid antibacterial hand gel as it’s fresh, fruity and floral.

Moisture Mask

This is something that I’ve only recently started bringing on a flight with me. I don’t even wear makeup on a flight, purely because my skin gets extremely dehydrated! So about half an hour before landing, I’ll pop the face mask on, just to give my skin a bit of moisture. I love the Moisture Bomb Sakura Hydrating Tissue Mask.

Lip Balm

Similar to above, my lips get so dry on flights, so it’s always handy to carry a lip balm with you. My favourite one is the Vaseline Rosy Lips.

Phone Charger

One of the worst things to happen to you on a flight is your phone dying, so I always carry a portable charger with me! Some flights will have ports for you to plug your phone in during the flight, but not all. Can’t be without my Spotify playlist!
